Gig on Saturday 13th September in Croyde

September 1, 2014

We are very excited about this year’s gig in aid of Paul’s Fund. It’s in Croyde Village Hall at 8pm on Saturday 13th September, the weekend of the Jesus Surf Classic and is being co-sponsored by Christian Surfers UK (our son Paul was a member).

We have returning faithfuls Ben and Chloe, a brilliant acoustic duo from Bristol who were close friends of Paul. Then we have alt-folk band The Grenaways from Cornwall.

Band leader Kris told us: “Our music is in the folk music genre, but none of us are true folkies (apart from maybe Laura who grew up on Lindisfarne). So we feel free to interpret folk music from a number of different angles. The results tend to be quite a unique mix of influences in the folk style, with definite nautical undertones. We just love this style because it has a rich tradition in Cornwall where it has always been the music of the people, influenced so much by the sea and coastal living. In some ways it’s the original dance music too, and gives us huge scope to write about everything from the romantic to the downright jiggy!www.thegrenaways.com/.

Tickets £4.50 on the door or book in advance from us for £4.00. Bar and hot and cold refreshments.
